In the yoga tradition, grace implies surrender and devotion: devotion to the practice and surrender to the Divine. This represents the more profound definition of yoga, beyond the usual yoga poses we see on the mat.

Yogi Spirit and Sophie Le Couteur have come together to create The Grace of Yoga Tee. Sophie is a local Northern Beaches artist and yogini who captures the beauty of yoga poses in her drawings. Her designs focus on the female form, capturing the fluidity and grace of yoga by the use of continuous line work. Sophie’s inspiration comes from her love of yoga and her passion for drawing which blend so beautifully in this design.

Sophie was able to follow her passion for drawing during the 2020 lockdown, the great pause, when she was no longer at her 9 to 5 job and was missing the connection and vibe of her regular yoga class and her community.

The design features the elegant Toe Stand which is a yoga pose found in Bikram Yoga. Toe stand pose or Padangustasana is the last pose of the Bikram standing series just before the first Savasana. It is an amazing posture not only because it is beautiful to look at, but because it is wonderful to develop psychological and mental powers, especially the power of patience!

But this is about more than the pose, it is about a yoga practitioner wanting to have the freedom to follow her passions and to connect with like-minded souls. This is why Amanda at Yogi Spirit and Sophie connected through their shared love of yoga and a yearning for community. The practice of yoga took them on a path to follow their passions.
